Day 9: The November Happiness Challenge 2021

One of my favorite things to do, in real life and on social media, is starting conversations with people, and watching it move to different topics and learning so much from each other.

I’m a sucker for beautiful conversations, and I like it when people run me through their thoughts on particular topics, it gives me a better perspective into why they do what they do, and I’m able to build my people management skills better.

For instance, I once saw a post that someone did about not liking outings. I started a conversation with said person so they’d run me through why they don’t like outings, and if anything happened to make it that way. They graciously explained to me that most of the outings they attend don’t end up well because they get bored easily, and their attention span is quite thin. We were able to share different experiences about the times we’ve been out without getting any form of satisfaction, and it was a moment of agreeing on certain things. It was beautiful.

Another time, I saw someone put up a job ad and I was interested. I signified interest in the position, and I was told to send my CV. I did and the person later reached out to say they were in awe of my credentials, and they wish I sent it earlier because the organization had already picked someone, but they’d be looking out for me for other positions. I didn’t get the role, but I was so pumped about the way the person encouraged me with regards to all I’ve done in the past which showed in my CV. That particular conversation didn’t yield what I wanted because of course I wanted an acceptance for the role, but it yielded something else ; now the person was aware of my abilities and they would mention my name in places. They did mention my name, and I later got gigs through them. See?

Some conversations don’t even have to be so deep, it could just be you trying to talk to someone randomly, without having a mindset on what would come out of it. The beauty of these kinds of conversations would be how you could easily flow from one topic to the other, and realize that you have more similar interests than you would have imagined, and then who knows, a romantic interest could spring up and next we are posting your how we met story on Familytips.

Forgive me, you know I just had to bring love in somehow because, lover of love.

Today, we are going to start a conversation with someone. Don’t be anxious, it doesn’t have to be a stranger because I know how tough that may be for some people. It can very well be an old or new friend, or a colleague, or anyone around you. Just look for a topic and start talking to them about it.

You can even start by asking how they are and how you’ve been admiring how they smile, or some cheesy stuff like that. Let it flow, and see the beauty that comes out of it. Make it an easy conversation and don’t be too ‘invested’ in it so that you don’t take offense easily or get disappointed if their views aren’t in line with your expectations. Just, flow…

I love to smile, as you can see in this image.

I’ll be back. OBA.

I really love beautiful conversations too. We have a new hire at work and in the short time he has been around we have had really great conversations. He is quite older and hearing him share his experiences are learning moments for me. He also listens to me and tells me he likes the way I think even when we don’t agree.

    Morale! High!!
Now, I am encouraged to continually strike up conversations with people, like I enjoy doing.

    Well done, darling.

I’m good at starting up conversations and somehow I’ve found it a useful tool in my business. I sometimes send out broadcasts to over a hundred people but written in a direct tone that’d trigger individual responses and before I know it, I’m getting orders or at least it serves as a reminder to them that I do what I do.

This makes actual sense! I do it too , albeit not for business. I just want to chat with my people

I have Social Anxiety so sometimes initiating conversations can be challenging for me. Hoping to make it to where I can truly be comfortable in most if not all of my interactions.

I am not a good conversation starter, but I will put in effort from now on. Thank you.

I find starting conversation awkward sort off because I don’t really know about the other person. I just started getting comfortable like what could go wrong
