Hi! I’m Olatoun and I’d like to share some of the little things that I do to make myself happy. I have come to realize there is no single recipe to achieving “complete happiness” for me. Each day comes with a different process and I sometimes have to make deliberate attempts to be happy, depending on what the day brings. I do have some favorites that work without fail and I’ll highlight them here.Playing with my Cat 🙂 . I looove to play with my pet Bella. That is one activity that’s certain to bring my mood from 0-100 and get me giggling in seconds. Thankfully she loves to play also, so we are a good fit. We play fetch, feather & string games, hide & seek, and laser games. It’s good exercise, gets us both moving and is very refreshing for me. Here’s my favorite picture of Bella the “Catfish” ( she loves fried fish) who is just an absolute sweetheart and makes me happy. Laughing: I love a good laugh and it makes me haaapppy. My husband has a terrific sense of humor and we play little pranks on each other all the time that leaves me in stitches. I sometimes would play a prank when I’m sad to improve my mood, it also gets me from 0-100 fast.Qur’an : Listening to my favorite surahs have also proven to be a mood booster for me. Favorite ones are Suratul Baqarah, Maryam, Waqiah and Buruj. I listen to Mishary bn Alafasy’s recitations when I need a boost and Khalil al Husari if I have some motivation to improve my recitations. The Qur’an never fails to make me happy, Alhamdulillah.Food: I have a huge appetite and love to eat!!! I make sure to eat out at least once a week. I get dolled up, go to a nice restaurant and eat good food. My favorite these days is Thai. I would occasionally try Egyptian or sometimes plain American food chains for a change. When I’m broke I try cooking something new and eat my fill.Dua: Lastly, simply plain ol dua for when you’re depressed. I recite this dua when I’m feeling veeery low, and Alhamdulillah it has proven useful, “A’oothu bikalimaatil-aahit-aammati min ghadhabihi wa “iqaabihi , wa sharri ‘ibaadihi, wa min hamazaatish-shayaateeni wa ‘an yahdhuroon.I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, from the evil of His slaves and from the taunts of devils and from their presence”. (Al-Qahtani, 134) I do realize one size doesn’t fit all, so I recommend taking note of what brightens your mood and making conscious attempts to do them often. I hope this helps make you happy and I hope you have a lovely day. ReferenceAl-Qahtani, S.W (2009) Fortress of the Muslim: Invocations from the Qur’an & Sunnah. Riyadh, KSA: Darussalam.

Interesting read. Your husband should stop playing pranks that leave you in stitches o 😂
It is true that there isn’t one formula that solves the happiness equation. Everyone should be deliberate about finding what works for them; and beyond that, do them repeatedly.
I enjoy trying new dishes, too; excites me. I should do it more often.
