Day 8 : The Happiness Challenge

I tried to help as many people as I could due to Yesterday’s challenge but i still felt like I had not done enough. This morning, I boarded a Keke Napep to the estate where my Office is and before we alighted, it started raining. The rain was really heavy and we stayed back in the keke a bit but the driver would have none of it, He sent us out without thinking twice. A lady who sat beside me then begged me to share the use of  my Umbrella with her . (I have this very pretty Umbrella that was given to me by my mum, she loves it so much because it was also gifted to her by her HOD at work when he returned from the US). It’s very portable so I have it in my bag always for days like this. Anyways, I walked down the road with the lady and she was still going farther down my office. She then lamented that she did not want her hair to get spoilt as she had this very pretty crotchet braids on (I think that’s what it’s called ). I told her she could go with the Umbrella and she should return it when the rain stops, she was so thankful and she requested for my card which I gave her. She left and after I came in, I realized  I actually did not get her number! Smart right? Sigh. I really hope she returns my Umbrella and doesn’t make my kind gesture get paid with bad. How is your day going guys? I love supporting my friends. You know, being a creative is not easy at all. In this country of ours where efforts are frustrated even before they start, I think it is commendable when anyone decides to float their own thing. Now, we see Fashion designers, Make up Artistes, Illustrators, Event managers among other things and more amazing is the fact that these people are our friends or even ourselves.  Many people had to ignore the discouragement from people to go forth with pursuing their passion while some people’s ideas could not see the light of day because there was no one to encourage them. Today, we are going to encourage ourselves and friends or just people we know to take a step towards achieving what we’ve always dreamt of, to uphold the already started Businesses and to know that we will always support their hustle. You could even go a step further by buying their products or ordering their services no matter how little. Get a dress from your friend who sews, Buy a scarf from your relative who sells it, Refer your event planner friend to another friend getting married and so on. For yourself, encourage yourself to not stop dreaming and take a step to do something about it. The friend who I’m supporting today is Titilola Ajayi. Titi and I have been friends for a while now and despite having our differences, we always make up and embrace the beauty in each other. I can boldly say that she is one of my most industrious friends I have as she doesn’t let any thing stop her strife to be better. She bakes cakes, Yummy ones and people in Ibadan and around can attest to how nice her cakes taste. Recently, she informed me that she is into Makeup now and she sent me some of her works, I was really impressed and even made sure I referred her to  a friend’s friend who turned out very pleased with the job. She is doing very well and getting better by the minute, she sells beauty products too and her makeup studio is at Ibadan : Shop 15, Tunde Oginni Plaza, 203a , Magazine Road, Jericho. She is giving us plenty things after this challenge o. One or more winners will get a pack of Beyond Beauty Lipstain,  a one week free eyebrow training and free Birthday or Owambe Makeup for a day! I better win one or all of these for myself, I aint even joking. See some of her works below (By the way, she is the one in the first two pictures). img_20161108_124422 img_20161108_124417-1 img_20161108_124412 img_20161108_124403img_20161108_124353 Her Instagram handle is @allurebyewatomi and her numbers are : 07039396959 and 09086455586. She is available to travel too! Okay, Update: The lady who took my Umbrella just called to say she would be stopping by with it soon. Yipeeee! I’ll be back. BOS

About today’s challenge. I love supporting people’s business even if I’m not that close to the person. I try as much as possible to buy their stuffs except if it’s too expensive and I can’t afford it.
I think I’m the one that need this encouragement. You guys need to encourage me to start my own business😂😂😂. I’m just too lazy to start something. The whole stress and all😣😣

My day has been gr8 dear. today’s challenge i love so much because as it is now even After being a graduate work is difficult to come by for real. I experienced it in this my present office, our boss just wake up one day and sacked 4 staff saying no more returns to pay salary. Now tell me what they will do if none of the have handwork and they are mostly married people. one of the his wedding is even dec now he has lost his Job. I really want to commend my friend Leema, You turn your love for Fashion into business, learn sewing and sew most of all those your styles, so many likes it and dnt know how to get them, And then did i tell you all she is good in makeup too oh yea she is. and tieying of gele, Even making of hair lol jack of all trade……….. of which i have been benefiting free of charge Lol. But seriously babe its time to turn them to business. Especially during service that we still have little Time. just like am also thinking of opening Vivian Recipe of eating light food @ night to stay Fit and healthy. where i will be preparing light food for dinner for workers who comes home late @ night and find it difficult to cook or eat heavy that night, it can be Indomie omellete with fried egg with green beans and carrot, Custard and fried plaintain, sliced cocumba, cabbage with ketchup tomato patse, fried akara and Pap etc Anything light for the night. so leeema i encourage you to make money from what you can do.

Eh eh I must win something oo….Me myself is a living witness to how dreams are not easy to accomplish either from lack of funds, encouragement and the likes. My mom would encourage me by gifting her friends with the cakes I bake just to show support. To those out there living their dreams already, may your business continue to flourish insha Allah. And for those of us struggling to live it, Allah is our strength….there is no quitting. Would definitely order scarfs from hijabs by aesha, been eyeing them for a while, so pretty.

Titi is beautiful, and I love her snapchat diaries. I love to support my friends, buy from them get them referrals etc but recently most of them have been taking the relationship we have for granted. I don’t get my cloths ontime, wrong cake inscription, I have outstanding orders that have paid for but hasn’t been delivered. All I see is pictures and “babe it’s ready oo, don’t worry I would send dispatch”. I have vented tire but I still accept the “plenty sorry” and “apologies” Sighs… I won’t stop patronizing and encouraging them sha after all what are friends for.

Awww Dee, I think I understand your point. People are not professional at all when it comes to their friends and i find that very annoying too. Pele, just keep doing what you can to support them

Interesting. I support my friends businesses as much as I can, by patronizing and recommending to others. As much as I not a fan of entrepreneurship, I can’t deny the fact that it has helped a lot of young people in Nigeria these past few years.

    • November 9, 2016

It has really helped them, I won’t even lie. What I don’t support is how the narrative is made to support just Entrepreneurship and make it seem like other people aren’t doing anything for themselves.

  10. November 9, 2016

I had a good day yesterday, defended my siwes and it was amazing Alhamdulillah. It’s always good to support friends o. Even if you don’t buy, help promote their business. I have a few friends who are into fashion business and I do help out by promoting the way I can and soon, I hope to buy a few of their items and even feature it on my blog.

Erm… First comment this November. On supporting friends. Yeah, I like to support my friends in whatever venture they are engaged in. It’s no big deal for me. But if their services are way beyond my pocket, I step back a bit…or if I have money to dash,I just free…
It’s actually sometimes not easy patronizing friends because the relationship moves from friend-friend relationship to a transactional relationship and here both parties will want to look out for themselves.
I know a lady who once said she doesn’t really like patronizing her friends because when they fcuk up in their services, she might not be able to voice out et al. I understand her.
As for me, I patronize them when I feel like as I don’t want anyone getting too comfortable. 😁 Now that we have many friends doing almost the same thing,One must know how to strike a balance amongst them;because human beings… hmm…
Happy birthday to me in advance. #HallieVember #NovemberforChampions.
