Day 7 : The November Happiness Challenge 2019

“Happiness is a perfume. You have to pour it on yourself for others to appreciate it.” I either made this up, or read somewhere. I honestly don’t know which it is because it has been my one of my guiding principles since I was a young girl. I am a huge believer of joy and being a source of it. Hence, when the opportunity to share with you, what I do for joy came, I jumped at it.   I love nature. For me, the beach is my sanctity place. Life can get overwhelming at times and when it does, nothing makes sense anymore. We often let people and environment get to us forgetting that we are important also. It is great to be an anchor. To be one who everyone runs to for support and care and solution. But even the anchor needs to be rejuvenated and so taking care of yourself and making yourself happy is not being selfish. It is what is deserved. So when I need to recharge, I take a day, wear loose and comfortable clothing, leave my face bare so I’m not concerned about makeup, carry my sunglasses, and head for a Beach in Lagos. I get there and just let loose. Walk barefooted in the sand, run and walk up and down the beach, take my time to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and people. I almost never take pictures because it’s about relaxing and being in the moment. Another thing I do for my sanity is watch movies. I love all kinds of movies except horror. You will never catch me watching that. I feel I have enough worries than to scare myself shitless. So to relax, I dig comedy and romantic movies more. They take me to a place of fairytale and frankly, I enjoy being there once in a while. So I either go to the Cinema or Netflix and chill. Whichever the case, I feel lighter and way more calm after a good movie.   Contrary to what my social media pages would have you believe, I am so not a social person. My perfect day is me in bed, with food, and music. This brings me to my last go-to happy place for me, music. I love listening to music. It has the power to lift up my mood or dampen it depending on what kind of song I choose. If you know me, then you’ll know you almost will never see me without my headphones. It’s an obsession that I am proud of. Music is life and soul for me. It’s serene and it’s perfection. I genuinely hope you find a happy place and live a happier life. Lots of love and light from me to you. Connect with me on Instagram

I have known Zainab from our days together in Ife, and if there is someone else I know who personifies and radiates happiness, Zainab is.

Your happiness tips are tasteful, for one, I’d sincerely love to explore the beach option. I have never visited one. *covers face
