Day 4 : The Happiness Challenge

My mum still calls me everyday. And by everyday, I mean, once in the morning and once at night before I sleep. I should mention the numerous text messages she drops in  between too. ‘Bawo ni oko mi? shey o ti jeun? Do you need anything? Do you have any friend coming home that could help you bring stuff back to Lagos? How are your friends? Toun nko? Mo tie ri Jumoke lana, She was looking so beautiful. Omo gidi ni omo Aishah yen, o maa fi ese mejeeji kunle ni” e. t. c. (Please ask your Yoruba friends to translate to you, for the non Yoruba speakers. lol).  Mummy never sleeps if there is anything bothering us, this isn’t a one time thing, she has been like this since we were little, till now. Sometimes, my sister would just buzz me and ask what we would have done without her. She goes the extra mile, always! My dad is amazing.I’m not sugarcoating it guys, He makes sure we are comfortable even if that would mean some discomfort for him. From attending the best schools to him buying us fancy phones to him sponsoring us on trips (errm my sister has been the best benefactor of this), to getting us gifts and lots more, He is indescribable! Guess what guys, ,my father still gives me transport fare when I’m leaving home back to Lagos. He sends me money like he isn’t even aware that I am working. I would buy clothes for him and mum and indirectly still get the money back because that is how amazing they both are. I had  a discussion with a friend  sometime ago and we both agreed on the fact that having Responsible and caring parents isn’t a right but a privilege. Trust me, it isn’t automatic that once you are born to this world, your parents must care for you and be responsible for you. Hence, if you have parents who do or who used to do (I know some people have lost one or both  parents, may God rest their souls), you should be very thankful and you should not stop appreciating them. You know another fun fact? These parents don’t have to be biological , you know, they could be people who adopted you as theirs, they could be your guardians who are your Family members or even non family members. Any one who takes you as their child and always wants to see a smile on your face already got the right to be referred to as our mother or father. Let’s appreciate them. I cherish my parents a lot and people who know me can surely testify to this . Please appreciate your parents too, care for them and respect them, be kind to them and listen to them. They are everything!. Hi mum and dad, You both are everything! c360_2016-11-04-11-03-10-866 I believe we already have an idea of what we are doing today. Yes, we are appreciating our parents. Send them a text, give them a call, buy them a gift on your way home, do something beautiful for them, just reach out to them and let them know how much you appreciate them.  I know some people do this well but please do it again today, tell them you are thankful and you love them. I ‘m certain their joy will be full. I want to apologize to people who have lost their parents or those who, because of one reason or the other, cant access them. I believe that you are equally amazing and your light will shine through. If you have anyone who stands as a mother or father to you, please reach out to them today and show them love. By the way, I came to slay today o. Ah, I’ve been looking at myself and feeling like jollof rice, hence, I might please everyone today as that is what Jollof rice does. lol. I should start fashion blogging too, Leemah told me to start it but you know, I am very lazy and I don’t have a camera (which is part of the starter pack , I think). But when it comes to the slay and swag, you guys, I’m hot hot!. Just see for yourselves snapchat-1814894825snapchat-2100173462img-20161104-wa0032c360_2016-11-04-10-16-18-066c360_2016-11-04-10-20-04-464c360_2016-11-04-10-17-00-287c360_2016-11-04-10-14-56-620-1 I’ll be back guys. Awwww…. But you really look like your dad o. Your parents are so beautiful plus lovely abaya.
You are so right, some people actually have parents but they either don’t care for them or just don’t have the resources.
    Alhamdulillah for my parents.

I don’t know which of their numerous show or expressions of love and care I should write about.
I’m specially grateful for their love and care towards me throughout my pregnancy up until delivery and now. My dad would call to check on me and keep me company over the phone whenever my husband had to work late while I was pregnant.
Mum came all the way from Lagos with all my favorite things, helped cook and clean even cleared up dishes after me.
I can’t tell it all people! Those two are amazing! To think that the few times I send them just recharge cards, they’d show “too much” appreciation as if I bought them a car.
Let’s talk of the extension of the same level of love to my husband. They love him as much as they love my brothers.
I’m also grateful for my in-laws. Spending over 2months with my mother in law now has been amazing! Imagine my Mother -in -law cleaning up after me after I had my baby and I couldn’t bend down to wipe my own ass. Sleeping on a chair to keep vigil over me or is it when she went to school with me for my defense from 10am to almost 6pm? Then insisting on driving me back home because in her words, “I can’t have you drive after all that stress” then making several stops on the way to my tailors, and every where else I had mentioned that I would stop at on our way to school. Of course I anticipate her return the few times she goes out.

  6. November 4, 2016

Alhamdulillah for supportive parents and for their ability to do their best❤️

  7. November 4, 2016

I don’t have to be told twice that parents and guardians have to be celebrated everyday. Some of them can do almost everything and anything for their wards.
Few days ago, I called my mum severally and her phone was off which was unusual, she called me later and said she was in a programme, I asked her why her phone was off for a long time she gave me same response. Yesterday I got to know water poured on her phone and I gave her mine. She said that’s why she didn’t want to tell me, I insisted she must have it. My sister even spoils them silly more than I do, God bless her. Your parents are warm, caring and amazing, I can testify to that. May their days be long, Insha’Allah.

  9. November 4, 2016

    Mum looking 16 😉😉😉…
Alhamdulillahi for your parents though, lots of stories out there where many parents don’t even care about how their wards survive, where some mothers will send their female children out there to go and fetch for what the family will eat.
My mum and dad are so important to me anytime anyway, they are always there for me.
My dad, from my common entrance exam, secondary school exam,my jamb, post utme, school registration and more, I don’t know where he won’t follow me too. Even till now he still takes me to school even at that moment when I tell him am a big girl,he’ll tell me am still his baby when am the first born of the family, lol, Alhamdulillahi we have amazing parents!

Wow my mom is amazing, well both are but mom is exceptionally amazing. She will move heaven and earth so that her children can be comfortable. She calls everyday to check on me and will always want us to come home because she’s missing us, that’s the tip of the iceberg. Oh God! Her prayers nko? Her fasts, supplications to Allah on our behalf. May Allah be pleased with her. My dad tries too, he will pay for anything when it comes to learning, but tufiapa not clothes or phones o. Alhamdulillah I have them both and I always pray to Allah to grant them long life to reap the fruits of their labour. I’m going to text them tonight and tell them both they are amazing and I’m glad I have them.
Thank you for this challenge dear. May your parents live long in sound health and wealth. Ameen

Sadly, I have lost both my mum and stepmum but i still have my Dad and I am grateful for him. My stepmum raised me and she was truly the best. At some point i thot she was my biological mum. And my mum was so special to me too. I miss them so much and i hope to be half the person they both were. Hug your parents tighter today. X

  13. November 4, 2016

Now I see where you got that smile😊Your mum’s smile can melt a heart. I’m glad you’ve got them.

My parents are everything. Sometimes when they check up on me, I feel like choi, will you guys ever stop this especially my mom…She can call to be sure I’m fine 10 times a day especially if I tell her I’m ill.

These days, I don’t even complain to them whenever I’m sad or going through a moment…their calls will kills my battery…but I guess that’s why we have them right. Im always thankful to God I still have both parents. Strong, healthy and alive…

I’m definitely calling them both after sharing this…

P.S: You actually look so good today as always. Plus did I mention that I always envy your outfits. You make being a moslem look so wonderful.

    Cheers dear

    Alhamdulilah for our parents ❤️
A million miles away from my parents but it feels like I’m home everyday, I still get to hear and see them everyday. I’ve got 7 siblings and the same goes for them all.
I Can’t begin to list everything my parents have done for me from bringing me into this world, teaching me Islam, making sure we sleep well at night and never go to bed hungry. Parents are the bed rock of our lives literally. May Allah (God) continue to bless all our parents and also grant them good health and long life to reap the fruits of their labours and may He bless us all and grant us the ability to always bring joy to our parents heart and leave smiles on their faces everyday.

    Ameen.

I am a witness to how amazing your parents are, mummy especially (seeing she’s my paddy). The other day when she saw me at UCH, she called me aside and we had a mother-daughter talk, I was wowed by the show of love, care and concern and her genuineness really got me. I couldn’t agree more that having supportive parents is but a privilege and not a right, the road might not be smooth but having people who care about you makes the journey a lot easier. May God bless these beautiful souls and fill the gap for those whose parents are gone. Weldone Omotolani for the beautiful piece and for reminding us of the things to be thankful for, sometimes we get too used to people, we tend to take them for granted…. And oh, my face was lit when I saw my name. :* :*
