Music and Dance
One of my best songs is this uplifting and recharging song by Lee Ann Womack. It is titled : “‘I hope you dance” and the people around me are already familiar with it as I always recommend it to them when they need a pick me up. The words are so deep and heavy; heavy with meaning and beautiful promises. You already know that’s the kind of thing I vibe with. When one is down or not in a very good place, the least one should need is a song with heartbreaking and depressing lyrics, it only makes you wallow so much in sadness and makes everything even more gloomy. Music isn’t for down moments alone, it is also for when we are happy and want to rejoice. There are different genres of music that people listen to and some are based on preference. For someone like me, I don’t exactly have a preference, I just vibe to whatever does it for me and I appreciate good lyrics. However, it isn’t everytime that the lyrics have to jig, sometimes you just want to shake your body and feel very good and the lyrics would not be as important as the beat and rythm at that time. Imagine Kizz Daniel’s Buga for instance, the beats are really nice and even though the lyrics tried too, I think the entire rythm is what makes it have a lot of fans.
Music are Dance come together and this is why I placed them side by side. It’s hardly possible to dance without music, and I know very well that dancing is a great booster of happiness. Have you seen anyone dancing without a smile on their face? Then it is probably a ritual. LOL. Dance is quite therapeutic, and it is even more exciting that it is a form of excercise too. Imagine dancing to be happy and still keeping fit while at it. Isn’t that a win win? I like to shake my body when the gbedu enters o, this life is one please. We just have to stay deliberate in living in the moment and revelling in the most random situations, while seeing the happiness potential in them. ‘Dance away your sorrow’ is a popular statement, and I couldn’t agree more with it. I culled the Lyrics of ther song I mentioned in the first paragraph and pasted it below: Please search for the song and play while reading the lyrics, if you don’t know it already. I promise that you’d love it.
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance… I hope you dance…
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance,
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances, but they’re worth takin’,
Lovin’ might be a mistake, but it’s worth makin’,
Don’t let some Hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin’ out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance… I hope you dance.
I hope you dance… I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years
And wonder where those years have gone.)
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
Dance… I hope you dance.
I hope you dance… I hope you dance.
I hope you dance… I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years
And wonder where those years have gone.)
