Day 21:The Happiness challenge

I had  a beautiful weekend. From Afropolitan vibes on Friday to sleeping all day at my friend’s house on Saturday to getting more rest on Sunday and then visiting a friend later in the evening, I dare say I totally enjoyed the weekend. I realised that many people dropped comments yesterday because the topic was food. You people like food ahn! I just started loving food very much recently and I’m very happy about it, everyone is even saying I’m gaining weight (I’d watch that though, team forever skinny). I used to care less whether I ate or not and I used to eat out of necessity more than want. For someone who paid so much to learn cooking  in Catering school, I don’t think this is fair, so maybe that’s why I decided to get more in the chef work. Thanks to my housemate too, she gingers me. I came across a quote on the website recently and it just stuck, most probably because of the challenge going on and how everything is geared towards attaining the happiness we all seek. “Happiness is letting go of what your life is meant to look like and celebrating it for everything that it is” Does that mean anything to you? I think that’s about everything that summarizes how one can easily attain happiness. Truth is, we all have hopes and aspirations and wishes but the sooner we understood that there is a master planner who has a master plan for us, the better for us. Yes, we will worry and wish things were going the way we planned it but you know what they say about situations you can’t control? Manage them! This is not to say we shouldn’t aspire for greatness or strive to be better but let’s try very hard to not be so stuck in  how we aren’t where we want to be that we begin to let sadness envelope us. How about celebrating the little moments of glory? The successes? The breath of fresh air every morning? Good health? A shelter over our heads? People that love us and would stay no matter what? People whose joy will always need our smile to be complete? Our ability to think? To seek knowledge? Even the opportunity to be a part of The Happiness Challenge on omotolaniee’s blog. *Grins*  There are so many reasons to just smile and bask in the euphoria of the moment, please do that! I love keeping memories , especially amazing ones. I love reliving them too, I guess that is why I take a lot of pictures,  I have only very few friends who we don’t have pictures together, if not for anything, just to look at them later and remember the wonderful moments we have shared and will still share if God wills. Today, take a picture! It could be a selfie (a picture of yourself), or a picture of a friend, or friends, or colleagues or nature around you, or people moving around, or all of these! Just channel your inner photographer and save a memory. You could name it the picture for the 2016 Happiness challenge . lol. Just take a picture guys, look at it all over and allow the smile to creep in! Picture taking reminds me of Abdullah, my long time friend who would not stop reminding me that he has to be the one in charge of my wedding pictures. I really would not mind this because you guys, he takes the best shots! I’m just so happy that my friends are doing amazing things and leaving indelible marks, I’m a proud friend!  He owns Juan Stills Photography and He is your guy if you want beautiful pictures during any event you or a friend might be having, Abdullah creates memories, trust me! He is generous too, and has promised a photoshoot to one of our winners ( I want!)  Imagine getting pictures of oneself taken by Juan photography, what a wow! You may check his works on Instagram @juan_stills or his website here  . I was able to take some pictures from his Instagram.  By the way, He’s the one in the first picture with his daughter. 14797321740221479732206161See those Yoruba Angels! Lol. I’ll be back. BOS

I think social media has made us all picture lovers now. I practically take a new picture everyday on my way out no matter how late i am, cant even keep up with the memories. Happiness means alot to me, it means eating good food, sleeping well and talking to my mom. Every other thing falls in handy
p.s: i cant wait for our pic together 😉😉

I just got posted to sokoto for nysc orientation camp and I cried my eyes out already, the turn of events after even seemed more frustrating but just before it got to the peak I got an exiting news and I wa able to not just smile but even laugh out loud. I was already thinking of how it wouldn’t be all bad to be in sokoto for. Year, how this could just be the break through for me and then I just came in here and this quote seems just to be directed at me “Happiness is letting go of what your life is meant to look like and celebrating it for everything that it is” looking towards the positive side and there ain’t nothing taking my happiness. Thanks for this BOS

At the moment, I’m in a village (village in every sense of it) and the environment is so beautiful. Nature at its best. The best part of it is the stars at night. It saddens me every night that I can’t take a picture and I’m unable to share the beauty. I feel like it’s a completely different sky from where I used to be. Alhamdulilah for nature. I can’t take pictures of what I’d have loved to but there are other things so…*click*

    • November 22, 2016

Oh you can’t take pictures? why is that?
I’d love to have a village experience soon too.

Abdulahi’s works are really beautiful and unique. They look like paintings.
I resumed work yesterday, and I got my picture lover groove on. I took pictures with my colleagues cos seeing all of them again made me realise how much I missed them so I decided to create some memories with them.
