Day 2: The November Happiness Challenge 2020

A mother gives, and gives, then gives again. My friends tell me that I’m really lucky with who God has blessed me with, as a mother. You see, they didn’t just arrive at this statement due to imaginations or wanting me to feel good. They have seen my mother’s goodness, it really does radiate through. I’m very proud of my mother. The kind of pride that makes me want to scream to the whole world that she birthed me. The kind of pride that makes me smile, anytime I remember that I came to this world through her. The kind of pride that is ever present and soothing, the kind that never goes away. My mother is everything, so much, and even more. This woman once went for a qualification and she got announced during the convocation, as the best student in a particular subject. The tutor specifically called her out, that she is indeed a wonder, because the bulk of her classmates are youngins, and her brilliance still shone through . That is the woman I call my mother. She is kind, oh yes she is. When people say that “Nurses are wicked”, I always automatically want to retort that my mother isn’t a wicked nurse. But I know that people would feel like I’m only saying that because she is my mum, so I leave it to them to meet her themselves, and make the judgement. And it works, they come letting me know how kind and warm a nurse she is.
I cannot count the number of people who have had encounters with my mum in the past, in and outside of her workplace, who have told me how wonderful she is, and how they are really glad to have met her. I have had families of her patients reach out to us to help to appreciate her on their behalf , I have had people tell me “oh wow, that’s your mum? Little wonder you are this phenomenal”. It is always so easy to tell people that they can go to meet her for one thing or the other at her workplace, or to ask people if they know about her, the testimonials are always topnotch. Those are the kinds of experiences I have, because this woman is my mother. My mum makes sure that people around her are okay and comfortable. This, her husband, children, siblings, family, friends etc can testify. She goes all out to do things for us and many times, I’ve had to wonder how she really does it. If I ask my mum for a favour, if she doesn’t do it immediately, she will make sure to work towards doing it, that is how reliable and present she is in my life, and in the lives of those around her. I tell my mom so many things, and this is because she has created that avenue for closeness. When my siblings and I fall into any confusion or issues, she is the first person we run to because somehow, she just makes it all better. When I was in labour to have my baby, she ran through the steps of UCH for God knows how many times, she stayed at the door of the theatre, praying that her daughter comes out well, and she kept telling me the most positive things. She takes my husband as her son, and it is beautiful seeing the bond between them. She is kind, fam she is kind! This kindness is one of her most wonderful attributes and I aspire to be like her. Oh and have you seen her? A beautiful woman on a 100, I stan now and forever more!
I can go on, about her great attributes, but I’ll leave it to you to judge for yourself, when you meet her ( if you haven’t already) I love you Mum, I love you very much and I pray that God grants you a very long and healthy life. I pray that He continues to bless you and that my siblings and I along with Daddy continue to be the coolness of your eyes. I pray to be blessed very much, so that I can actualize all my plans for you. Amin. Today, we are going to reach out to our mothers/ anyone who stands as a mother figure in our lives, and appreciate them. Yes, I know we appreciate them everyday but this will be different. We will tell them how much we cherish what they do for us, how we admire their exploits and how we are proud to have them in our lives. And we will pray for them, we will pray for them very well and place their lives in God’s hands. Do this, and you’d feel a special wave of contentment because of the smile on their face. I’ll be back. OBA.

This is beautiful. I pray Allah continues to bless and protect mom for you. Āmīn.
I also want to write a lot about my mum. She is no more and as expected, she is never gonna be replaceable in my life. If I were to start writing about her, I think I might write double or triple of what you wrote about mum. Mothers are jewels. We can’t ever assume that they are from this world. I think mothers are specially made. God must have devoted some more power into making mothers. This is because mothers do not refer to my everyone that bears a child. Mothers are the ones who are always willing and ready to exchange their lives if required to safe the lives of those they love i.e. their children.
Please love your mom everyday and in every way. Please do so.

Thank you for sharing that with us. It is about you, yes but it’s a great deal of appreciation. It’s a great lesson and a great writing.

I totally agree with you. I’ve talked to your mum on phone couple of times and it’s painful that we still haven’t met yet but from how we’ve spoken numerous times, I know she’s a wonderful and amazing mother.

My mum is so thoughtful all the time. She makes sure that she makes everything easy for me even with her not being in the same city with me. I always look forward to having her around with me as I know I’m about to be pampered. Mothers are rare gems that we can never fully appreciate no matter how much we try because they do so much for us regardless of whatever the situation is. Being a mother myself, I know my girls are the greatest gifts I can ever have in this life and I try to treat them like such everyday.

May Allah(SWT) bless all mothers and make our offsprings the coolness of our eyes. May we all live long to reap the fruits of our labor In Shaa Allah. Ameen. I also pray that Allah blesses all the women who want to be mothers with the fruit of the womb. Ameen

Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! I can testify to all these and so much more.
Your relationship with your mum had me realizing that I could do better with mine. How she’s the first to come to your mind and mouth when you seem confused is one. How nothing seems awkward to say to her is another and so much more.
I almost met her shortly before your wedding and even over the phone she was a MOTHER! She had come for a wedding in Ilorin and she was to deliver my aso ebi to me, when she called and realised that I was either still sleeping or just waking up, she didn’t rush me, rather, she said, “Pele my dear, Iwo lo wa ninu oyun abi?” I said “beeni ma”and na so the delivery prayer start. I got up that day with a smile on my face.
She’s a special one among mothers. Once I called her on her birthday and she left me feeling like ” now I owe her owo adura” LOL.
Mothers are indeed special beings. Once I told my mum about how sweet my mother-in-law has been since arriving at mine to help with my baby and I added that, ” I never really prayed about the kind of mother-in-law I wanted” my mum said, and I quote, “it is you that did not pray, I prayed about it on your behalf”.
Thank you mum, I love you. I hope I get to be a good mum my kids will be proud of too.

Omg! Mummy prayed for a great mother in law for you because our mothers always always want the best for us and she knows how important in-laws are. May God continue to protect and bless them.

Babes why now? You made me teary,I’ll attribute them to tears of appreciation and joy anyway. Looking back at how my mum and mother figures have stood by me this past months I’m so taking on this challenge. I mean these mummy’s have been so sweet, they all rallied around me, they still called me till yesterday assuring me November 2020 is definitely going to be a walk through for me. My mum😍 our relationship is weird cos she is a thorough disciplinarian, with the kind of job my dad has she had to play both parent roles while I was growing up and that made her look like the villain because she wanted to protect us at all cost and bring out the best in us. Looking back, every thing she did has placed me in a better place and has made me a very responsible young woman. Her support is massive and she’s a jolly good, yuppy, don’t wanna grow old mama.

Yaaaaay! E ba mi kira fun mama mi o, orisha bi iya o si inserts komole dance. Please excuse my lack of decorum, everything about this article is exciting.

I know Mummy, and she’s one of the not-so-many women I comfortably call “mummy”. She embodies dedication, commitment and sacrifice. What’s even more amazing is how she’s like that with not only her biological children but with almost everyone she knows. Indeed, she’s “Iya olomo pupo”.

Reading this reminded me of a time she summoned me and I kept wondering what the discussion would be about, then she went “oko mi, tori ore e ni mo se pe e…”. The sincerity and genuine concern with which she handles every situation is enviable.

God bless you, mummy and give you a long, healthy and fulfilling life. He will preserve all that brings you joy and bless you with the finest things.

Mothers are a singular blessing and their praises can’t be sung enough. Thank you for bringing this to the fore again. I’ll be reaching out to my mummies today.

    Can tomorrow come already???

    Yes
I have so many things to say about her but if I start I won’t finish today
She’s cool and one of the realest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. When I think of real, I think of her.

I remembered when I had issue with my certificate in school, I was worried
She called me and said Aduke okomi,
Don’t worry everything will be fine, o ma n ri be, but moni igbagbo pe o ma ri gba
She prayed and prayed for me
I couldn’t hold back my tears
I felt relieved after talking to her

Mum thanks for all you do for us, May your days be long on earth ❤️❤️❤️
You will always be the real definition of a good mother

Indeed mothers are a special breed. I could almost say, there was an atmosphere all out for mums yesterday. Without having read through the day’s challenge. I found myself talk at length about my mum yesterday.
We have it tough most times because we are too similar, but one thing I can bet my whole existence on is the depth of love for me.
She is the one epitomy of strength, courage and finese that I know. The one hand that urges me to keep my head high through the storms. I sometimes wonder who I would have grown to be without my mum. I’m most grateful to God it’s her and I pray it will still be her in the world after.
