Day 19: The November Happiness Challenge 2022
Cleanliness
Mummy B lived adjacent our house when I was about 15. She had five kids, and because we knew them well, we knew that she and her family were not so buoyant. However, the only pointer to this was the fact that they all lived in one room and there wasn’t enough space for the number of kids they had. Beyond this, you would never have an inkling seeing them from far. Why? They were an extremely clean family. She would buy thrift outfits for her kids, and wash them from time to time, her husband would iron it and the kids would always dress like they were fresh from the boutique, you would rarely see them moving around dirty except they have been playing with their peers.
I was a teenager, but I admired that family so much, I remember them from time to time and hope they are doing great wherever they are. They showed me that you didn’t need so much money to be clean, and you could avoid being dirty if you are very intentional. I understand that some people do not have access to basic amenities like water to even clean up, and I won’t ever look down on them, I don’t look down on anyone. I am just speaking generally to people who can be clean but for one reason or the other, an example of which is laziness, decide to move around stinky and looking unkempt.
Cleanliness, they say, is next to godliness, and I couldn’t agree more. Many people have taken their hygiene for granted and they just don’t bother. I understand how easy it can be to be nonchalant, and not get to make any effort, but is the result worth it? From clipping your fingernails short, to ensuring your hairdo isn’t rough, or that your haircut is well trimmed and so on, you need to take good hygiene seriously. It makes people warm up to you more easily and makes you even happy with yourself.
So many accepted body and mouth odours can be fixed, if only people could listen. Some could have underlying health factors and these aren’t the ones I speak of. I mean the ones that are caused by you not taking good care of your body and then punishing everyone everywhere by having a smell. Please stop it, don’t be that person.

According to
TrainingExpress, below are some ways to practise personal hygiene:
- Take regular shower
- Maintain oral hygiene
- Wash your hands frequently
- Wash your genitals
- Keep your clothes and surrounding dry and clean
- Trim your Nails and wash your hairs
- Wear fresh and Warm clothes
- Clean your Nose and Hairs
- Use deodorant.
See? You can maintain cleanliness without breaking the bank, you just have to put in the effort and be intentional as
I mentioned earlier. It isn’t only good for your appearance, it helps with keeping germs and illnesses away too. Win win situation, don’t you think? Everybody wants to be around people who are always clean, believe me. Look at your surrounding right now, are you proud of it? Are things arranged they way they should be? Hayy I’m not expecting you to be all organized every minute of the day, this can be really tough especially if you have kids. I am talking about the kind of arrangement where you ensure that your dishes don’t go days unwashed, or that there is no stagnant water around you, or that you clean up spilled water before it injures you or someone else, etc. You should sweep your environment too, and shouldn’t leave your living space untended to for a long time. If you can afford it, outsource it as long as it gets done, please.
When was the last time you took a shower? Yesterday? Today? Are you feeling lazy to shower because this is a Saturday? No, let’s not do that. Oya stand up and go take a shower before you sleep this night, you’ll feel refreshed. There is the part of having a clean heart too, but we’d keep that for later. Let’s focus on the outside appearance for today.
I’ll be back

Nice one dear. Cleanliness is next to Godliness they say.

Nice write up. I believe having a set routine helps too, but then again, adulting* happens sometimes, so one just has to make a conscious effort to keep one’s space clean at all times.

I love clean spaces and strive to keep my environment clean. It can get tedious as tasks pile up but it is a priority. My goal is to hire help to support my cleaning ambitions.😄

Thank you for this, I am proud of my surrounding. I made a decision to always do the dishes no matter the circumstance
