Day 16: The November Happiness Challenge 2021

I remember when I was growing up ( I’m still growing o, don’t get it twisted), everyone admired my mum, they still do.

My friends wanted to see her anytime they visited. She is warm, hospitable, kind, and a great listener. She also doesn’t suffer fools as she can be strict when there is need for it. I liked that, I didn’t mind growing to be that person.

My dad allowed us a lot of freedom. He was the strict African dad, but he was subtle with handling our emotions and needs. He provided for us the best way he could, and made sure we were content with the provisions. I thought and still think that is beautiful, and it shaped us in many ways.

Parents are really special, and even though they have their flaws, because of course is there anyone who is infallible?, We need to admit that they try their best, and it is a privilege to be blessed with the gift of them. They make everything better, everything.

I’d like to implore all of us to cut our parents some slack regarding their manner of parenting, and some beliefs they hold dear. Remember that there is a generation gap, and they are only doing things the best way they know how to. They deserve to be cared for, loved and cherished, because parenting is huge work, and deserves to be applauded.

Every year, on the 16th day of the challenge, I dedicate the post to my mum or parents in general, and that’s because it’s my mum’s birthday. I love her very much, and I pray that God grants her a healthy, wealthy and long life. I want to see her around for a long time, and I want to be very blessed, so that I can give her the best things and continually put a smile on her face.

Please, say a prayer for my mum when you read this. She means the entire world to me.

Today, we will drop a message for our parents, telling them how much we cherish them, and sending them heartfelt prayers. If you don’t have biological parents alive, please say a prayer for the repose of their soul, and send a message to anyone who stands as a parent figure to you. May God ease all of our affairs.

The picture to be attached has to be one of my Mum. So, please take a break from seeing my face😄.

I’ll be back. OBA

Ayeeeee! For some reason, I felt compelled to come on here today (been struggling to keep up), and am I glad I did? Your guess is right.

Mummy, B. Is one of the very few women I call “Mummy” and that’s because she embodies everything praiseworthy in a mother. She always endeavours to leave you better than she met you: compliments, words of advice, commendation, gifts or anything else that’s nice.

Parents are indeed blessings, whether biological or otherwise. Without the guidance and support they provide, navigating the world would have been an enigma.

I’ll certainly be reaching out to mine today.
Thanks for the prompt, and kudos on the amazing job you’re doing.

See our mummy 😍😍😍😍 my own role model. I haven’t had the opportunity to meet her in person yet I love and admire her greatly.
May the devil never lay hands on all that you hold dear momma.
Had this talk about cutting our parents some slacks just yesterday with a friend and I couldn’t agree more, especially now as a parent myself. There’s no manual to it. Their generation had culture, traditions and so much more to deal with. Unable to question the status quo, why what is what and why that is done that way. New couples with little or very scarce resources having to accommodate relatives and so much more.
My prayer now is to be able to raise emotionally stable beings who’d consider me their first friend after God, at all times. So help me God.

Thank you for the prayer. Amin. She can’t wait to meet you either. Yes to cutting our parents some slack, I guess it gets more relatable when we become parents so we know that they really tried their best. And we need to understand that more while we relate with them . I also agree with the cultural aspect, we don’t expect them to just throw things away because we believe we are more woke. We need to be more cautious
