Day 15 : The Happiness Challenge

It’s my birthday in two months and I can’t wait to compare my wishes for this year with what I would have gotten by then. A friend, Olajumoke, asked me to write a wish list on my last birthday and I should check how well I’ve done when the next one comes. I think that was an awesome idea and I wait for the day, In sha allah. I also stuck to some quotes and these quotes are those that help me go on even when things might be looking bleak. some are quotes from the Quran while some are those I come by while reading or surfing the net.
Today, we share quotes and Inspirational words. What is that quote or saying that gets you by? which of the sentences or wise sayings you have come across will always make you feel better? what is your Mantra in life? Which quote gets it kicking for you? These are some of mine:
- For we plan, and Allah plans , and Allah is the best of planners. (Quran 8, verse 30)
- Which of Allah’s favours can we deny? (Quran 55: 13)
- Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased, And surely what comes after is better for you than that which has gone before, And soon will your Lord give you so that you will be well pleased. (Quran 93 vs 3-5)
- It gets very dark before Morning ( A saying I came across long ago)
Talking about birthdays, I have a birthday mate and her name is Odunayo. I should have been named Odunayo too seeing as we are New year babies (January 4th) but I guess my folks just didn’t think about it. I also call her Princess, so I might be using the two names interchangeably. I met Princess on Twitter about four years ago when we both realised we were birthday mates. Not just month and day, same year too, which means we are age mates, Isn’t that beautiful? She was schooling in Russia at the time but distance did not deter our friendship growth, we grew close and used to share lots of stories with each other. She then came to Nigeria for Law school and we met physically in Abuja last year. I stayed over at hers for some days and trust me guys, you would never have guessed it was our first meeting. She is so amazing and never gets angry at anything, or maybe she does but it never lasts because that’s just who she is.
This beautiful woman, who already has a Masters degree in Law, owns an online fashion store called House of Moh and I’m wowed at how far she has come within such a short time. I still remember when she told me about her plan to start the store and it seems like yesterday. You never can tell how far diligence and hard work can take you in life. She just recently launched a Ready to wear Collection on her website and she has very beautiful pieces for sale. Look at some of them (By, the way, she modelled all the pieces herself, told you she is beautiful)

My quotes- The will to succeed is important but, what’s more important is the will to prepare. (From a greeting card I got while writing my final exams in Secondary school).

Have got so many quote that keeps me going. One is no3 on your list and this one “slowly but surely”. Got that from my daddy, anytime I start complaining of things, or where I thought I would be by naw (married with kids😣) He just have the way of calming me down with that.
Another that works that magic whenever I’m going to hard phase in my life “Verily, with hardship there is relief” (Qur’an 94:6) .

My fav quote or let me say the only quote that comes frequently to mind and bails me out when things become unbearable is ‘Surely, with every hardship there is relief’. That has always been my mantra. It gives me hope and doesn’t make me give up. Alhamdulillah for that verse.

Which of my lord’s favor can I deny? I wasn’t thankful enough as if he hasn’t done anything, when he has done much more than I deserve.
It doesn’t hurt to try… I say this to myself whenever I’m not sure if things will work. I came across one today, Nothing good gets away_John Steinbeck. I think that’s true in a deeper sense.
