Day 13 : The November Happiness Challenge 2022

Colours

Yes, the Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink, White, Black, Purple, Red, Brown, Orange and all their variants. I can’t really tell when I began to like colours. It just happened! I always liked to “combine” though; this means pairing your outfits to make the colours match.  I guess we got this from our parents and their Owambe packages and then it got full blown one particular year like that. At the University, everyone was wearing Pashminas to match their tops (Muslims and Christains alike ), and also carrying matching shoes, belts and bags. We were all so innocent, we just wanted to combine and go. Even before University, I remeber what I wore to the Valedictory service when I was leaving Secondary school. Come and see your girl with a black jeans and yellow top, yellow belt, yellow bag, yellow shoes and yellow feathers on my hair. It was a yellow affair. As the years went by, I knew I really liked to wear whatever I was comfortable with as long as it was well covering. So, this meant I’d pick one colour here and one colour there whenever I was stepping out. Combining for me now meant going for unconventional pairings and I just always loved how they banged. I could do monochromic styling or do different shades of one colour or you know, just anything! Before you could say Jack Robinson, I had become that person who was identified with colours and I can’t say I don’t like it, I do. There were seasons when I liked particular colours and made them my fav. I had the season for Purple, Pink, Mustard yellow, White e.t.c. and most of the outfits I’d buy then would be in that colour.  Now, I’m glad to let you know that I have no favorites. The aforementioned are still colours I rock effortlessly and constantly, but I am not limited to them while sourcing outfits at all. I’m just looking out for a pretty outfit regardless of the colour. I don’t wear Red that often but I still have it in my collection, that’s how versatile I am. Vey recently, I played a Question game on Instagram where I told people to request for a picture of me in any colour of their choice. I was able to respond to every single request and I was feeling so fly, like wow, I have rerally rocked colours o. It was a pretty excciting exercise and I got many compliments ( Yes, I’m quite big on compliments). I am just getting started, here is to rocking more and more colours. Having a range of colours in my wardrobe also makes it easy for me to attend themsed events where they select particular colours because I’d always find soething except I just feel like getting new ensembles. You might have noticed that I derive joy in the most seemingly blandest of things. I mean, it’s just colours right? Trust me to blow it over and make it look like it is such a grand thing. That’s the beauty of always seeking joy in everything and making yourself the first source of happiness. It works, trust me, and you can do it too. Just look at yourself and the things you do and start enjoying them fully, you’d be amazed at the fulfilment it would bring. Are you a colourful person like me? Or do you prefer simple colours without a pop? Is there a reason for your choice? Let’s gist. Note that every choice is beautiful, as long as you derive joy in it. Have a beautiful and ‘colourful’ Sunday. I’ll be back. OBA

🤣🤣🤣 I cannot relate with this post cos I’ve never seen colors in this light. I’m quite a boring person and I’m so not fashionable…I love the color green though…to me, it symbolizes growth and fruitfulness…and I’m at a stage where I’m learning to appreciate every progress I make, no matter how little.

Oh, I remember the craze to combine colored pashminas with our outfits back at Uni. Those were days of less worries. 😃
I don’t have a particular favorite color now, but I’d say I love white, because it gives this luxurious feel and you don’t need so much to look extravagant.

I’ve never been one to really wear colors. In my head, I’m always thinking “It’s too much”. I think it’s because I don’t like attention but in recent times I’ve added colors to my wardrobe and I’ve realized how beautiful some pop on my dark skin.
I’ll definitely be incorporating more colors this new year
