The November Happiness Challenge

Day 20: The November Happiness Challenge 2021

November 20, 2021

I love giving, and receiving gifts.

There is an unspoken thoughtfulness attached to gifting, and regardless of how pricy or non pricy a gift is, the receiver would just feel cherished, and that they’ve been on someone’s mind.

I have a friend who is such a gifter, and she has really taught me to be a better one. She wouldn’t ever visit you without bringing something no matter how small. She’d call me up sometimes and say she saw some veils at a store and I came to her mind so she bought it and kept for me. She even once said she saw a veil that would look good on my Mum and she got it for her. It’s the thoughtfulness for me, everytime.

From her, I learn that visiting someone shouldn’t mean you go bare handed. You can get anything for them, without having to break the bank. You can buy fruits, wine, chocolates or biscuits for the kids and so on. No matter how wealthy anyone is, there is a smile that comes to their face genuinely when they realize that someone has thought about them and counted them worthy of being gifted, it’s a great habit, sincerely.

My last birthday was very beautiful, and part of this was the fact that I got many gifts. I got from my W, my siblings, parents, friends and even acquaintances. It was so cute reviving calls that I had gifts on their way to me and I felt really loved. It wasn’t about the quality of the gifts I received, for me, it was about the thoughtfulness of the people who felt I deserved gifts and then going the extra mile to get these gifts for me.

I remember something that happened some weeks before my birthday. I had seen this very pretty mules on a page and I shared it on my Instagram that I loved it . Almost immediately after, a friend reached to me and said she would like to get it for me and that I should please speak with the vendor regarding sizing and all of that. I spoke to the vendor eagerly only to be told that the shoe was sold out and I’d have to wait till a later date to order it. That meant it wouldn’t come in time for my birthday so I told the lady who intended to buy it for me, she then said it was okay and that I should pick other things I would like while she sorts it.

Imagine my dismay when I got the shoes on my birthday! Apparently, the vendor had been contacted by my sister immediately I shared the post, and they had agreed that she wouldn’t sell to me if I came to make inquiries so that I won’t have to same shoes. Look at that! Top top top act of love from the sister my mother gave me.

You don’t have to wait till an event before you gift anyone, really. Just pick something either from the house or as you are out and give it to someone unexpectedly. You’d be appreciated.

Today, we are going to make an intention to gift someone. I can’t tell you to do it right now because it’s late, but you can make the decision. While stepping out tomorrow, pick that cute notepad and give it to your colleague, with a handwritten note that you just wanted to gift them something. Or send recharge card to someone? A friend? Sibling ? There are loads of gift items that you can comfortably afford. So please, just do it.

Christmas and New year are also coming, it’s enough time to plan towards who you’re be gifting this year. Remember secret Santa? It still works. Do it!

Fine girl, no pimples

I’ll be back. OBA

Like you, a friend also taught me about the act of gifting. Not intentionally but the way she gives gifts just nudged me to always do same. I’d pride myself to be a very thoughtful person while giving though, but this particular friend taught me by her ways that nothing is too too small. Like ordering small chops for someone that gave her business a referral earlier in the week, buying something that she likes for someone else cos she thinks it will suit them better etc etc.
NB: you’re one VERY thoughtful person at gifting too @omotolani.
    Thank you

I feel joyed when I gift someone. Truly it’s not about the quality of the gift, it’s the thought that counts.
