The November Happiness Challenge

Day 6: The November Happiness Challenge 2021

November 6, 2021

I’ve had a very busy day, and that’s because weekends are family time. There are group chores to do, songs to sing to my baby, gists to exchange with my husband, and movies.

Yes, movies. I enjoy simple movies without any serious activities and gunshots and killings and all of those themes that you young people enjoy these days ( lol jk). Seriously though, you would catch me watching comedies and entertaining movies that would make me laugh intentionally or non intentionally. This is why I always watch Nigerian movies; many people can say that it is non intellectual and low budgeted and all of those funny descriptions but as for me? I will keep watching them because they truly make me laugh and I enjoy seeing relatable characters.

I am known to recruit people to my corner regarding Yoruba movies and Nigerian movies in general, so if we are close in a way, I have most likely encouraged you to try at least one. I’m sorry, think about it as me being a patriotic Nigerian. Haha.

It’s weekend, so it’s a great time to relax and see a movie. I understand that some people aren’t ‘movie people’ but then, trying new things could be really soothing. You need to take your mind off work, or some other situations that are getting you all worked up. And I’m suggesting seeing a very simple and funny movie for that. Not a movie that would make you start thinking deep and crying and all of that emotional stuff.

Today, we will be seeing a Nigerian movie. Please, don’t crucify me. Just indulge me for today and consider it as you being an obedient adherent of The November happiness challenge by Omotolani. It can be any movie of choice, but make it Nigerian, please. I suggest ‘Your Excellency’ on Netflix if you haven’t already seen it. It is a movie which has Funke Akindele and Akin Lewis as the lead acts, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Please see it with the readiness to have a great time, and I promise you’d come back to me with great feedback. This isn’t a paid ad, this is me trying to plug you to a funny movie I saw, because we are cool like that. If you have seen it already, you can try other funny ones like ‘Quam money’, ‘Elevator Baby’ and others.

Get a cup of juice and popcorn if you have some, and turn your home into a mini theatre. You can also do it on your phone, if that is more convenient for you.

Look at this picture of me having the best time of my life earlier this year.

I’ll be back. OBA

The narrative here is so me, with a splash of foreign romcoms and a pinch of action. I make popcorn at home and enjoy a family movie with the kids, lights out, pillows and drinks. Last movie we saw was “A girl and the white Lion” not sure if I got the title right, but they thoroughly enjoyed it. I have one or two others lined up already for our next dates.

Gosh maybe that’s why I get sad thinking all these deep thoughts. I like movies that evoke these feelings. Ofcourse I also enjoy a good laugh but this morning I completed unorthodox on Netflix and I sobbed. I should see a comedy film tonight…have a good laugh.

“All haill the Queen” was the caption that came to mind as I saw the attached picture.

I wish I got the chance to be here earlier; taking the challenge would certainly have been a mood lifter for me, as my week didn’t end on a great note, but tomorrow is another day.

    Impressive write-up, as per usual!
