The November Happiness Challenge

Day 3: The November Happiness Challenge 2021

November 3, 2021
This morning, my husband got our baby dressed up for school, and afterwards, the following conversation ensued Him: ‘wow, you look so beautiful’. Her: (twirls) Look at me daddy, I’m a princess Him: oh yes. My baby, you are a beautiful Princess: Her: Thank you daddy. Thank you sooooo much. This isn’t a first time occurrence. In fact, it happens everyday once he is through dressing her up. You can’t deny the look of satisfaction that spreads on her face anytime he compliments her. It makes her feel so good and I always watch in admiration as they engage in their little morning ritual. Last week, my mum came to our home because she had a conference to attend. She regularly talked about how smart our baby is, and they spent such quality time together. One day, we were all together and she said: “I’m not surprised she is so smart, her two parents are extremely smart too”. I watched the smile creep to my husband’s face and I smiled deeply too. It was a beautiful moment, very beautiful. I have many pretty friends, in fact , people tease me that I probably choose them with beautify as a part of the criteria. Funny right? Many of these friends will post pictures and you’d see me sending compliments. Genuine compliments because I ain’t ever lied! When I see them physically too, I let them know how pretty they are. One of them recently told me how good I always make her feel and that she often looks forwards to me responding to her pictures. My guardian from university is one of the most intelligent and resourceful people I know, he gets things done, and many people admire him for it. I once saw a video where he was being introduced to an audience and the accolades that were reeled out made a grown man blush. I blushed on his behalf too because they were very true. I love to share happiness with my sayings, activities and engagements. I’m conscious about the things I do and I try to leave a positive impact anywhere I find myself. My brands have goals geared towards happiness and I don’t play with executing strategies to achieve this. Still, it sometimes feel like I’m not doing enough, so when people tell me they see all I do and it impacts them, it goes in! I received a message some weeks back about how I’m doing a fantastic job with my personal brand, spreading true happiness and how I’m worthy of being looked up to, and I really felt like crying, because the compliment was so satisfying. I gave the previous examples to let you know that COMPLIMENTS do get to people. Many times, people could be aware that they are phenomenal in different areas but they just don’t get told enough. It isn’t that they don’t know certain things about themselves already, but you can stamp it for them by praising or hyping them. There is a level of satisfaction that you can get when people pass great remarks your way and this is what I’m preaching today. There is an argument against this which says people might be lying or you shouldn’t listen to people, yadayada. I say no to that because why are you living your life based off the assumptions that people would want to lie to you? What if they are actually saying the truth? And guess what, if they are lying, it speaks more about them than you. So please, enjoy your compliments and be happy while at it. Don’t assume that people around you already know of their good traits so you don’t need to tell them. Please do, as many times as you can. Be a cheerleader and a soul lifter, and be that person who raises people with your words. Tell your partner that they are gorgeous, send a text to your colleague that their dress sense is really nice, tell your parents that you admire their drive, approach a stranger and let them know they look good, e.t.c. You’d be amazed at how far the compliment would go. Today, we will be complimenting at least one person ( this means you can compliment as many people as you want): 1. Compliment anyone around you physically, look for something nice about them and let them know. 2. Respond to stories or posts on social media with good words about their tenacity or beauty or smartness or anything you like about them. 3. Pick out someone you know on Social media, write what you admire about them and compliment them. Remember to use the hashtag : #TheNovemberHappinesschallengebyOmotolaniee. 4. Compliment this picture of me. Because why not?
I’ll be back. OBA

That’s how a stranger complimented me on my back from work last week, said I look really good and that if I look this good after work, imagine how I looked earlier in the day. I blushed, it felt good. I still remember and smile.
