Hello darlings. How are you doing? It’s been a really hectic day around here, hence the late post. I appreciate everyone who reaches out every time when they don’t see the challenge for the day. It makes me feel appreciated and encouraged because I get to know that there are people following this religiously. Thanks guys.
I promised you guys loads of gists and I don’t want to go back on my words. I feel like I have not been dishing them out as I should so I am about to fix up. You know when there are too many stories to put out, you don’t even know where to start from and you end up forgetting many of them . Lol
The Yorubas say: Nnkan ton dunni lon po loro eni. (What concerns you the most is what you will always talk about) so I will be talking about my fiance, our relationship, how it began and how we got here, Lol. It is a really lengthy story so you will bear with me because I would have to break it into bits and do them in about three or more posts.
I attended a party on the 28th of December ,2013. My family friends came to the house to pick me that we had a party to attend and we went. It was their family friend’s call to bar party and we all packed ourselves into the car to go have fun. After all, it was festive period and we were all determined to make the best use of our time together. We got to the party and we were eating and talking about the people especially ‘boys’ at the party. (You know we ladies can gist. lol ). I was getting bored and wanted to leave then Jola (my sister), called my attention to a boy and girl who just came in locking hands. She said : “Sis, look at that fine boy” I looked towards the direction she pointed and saw him. He was indeed cute but trust Omotolani. I said : ehn ehn, he is just there.
I was also not about to admire someone who came in with a lady and besides, I was in a popping relationship (or so I thought). We lingered on for a bit and left, I thought that was all.
Five days later, I was going through my twitter timeline and I saw a handle. I don’t remember what prompted me to check the avatar but I did and alas , It was Mr fine boy from the party with about two other guys and the picture was taken at that party. I needed to know which of the people in the picture was him so I sent a DM. (Yes, I slid into his DM). I asked him if he was at so so party and he should say which of the guys he was. He responded that he was the one in the middle and I said oh, I saw you briefly. He said he just viewed my avatar now and realized that I am the same person he told his friend he liked but couldn’t get across to. We got talking and exchanged numbers, baba was eager to come visit me at the house on that same day but I told him I had family at home and was busy. He said he would like to see me before going to Law school in two days.
The only other day left for us to see was my birthday (Jan.4th) and he promised to come over. He came around with his friend and we all had chops and gists.
That’s a picture from the visit on January 4th,2014.
It was a really good visit and we spoke briefly on phone after he got home. He returned to his school the next day and I texted to ask how his journey went out of courtesy (He later told me this really warmed his heart). After he settled down, he called me and after we exchanged pleasantries, he went straight to the point : ‘I would like you to be my girlfriend’. I liked his straightforwardness and how he went directly to what he wanted. I told him he is a likeable person but I was sorry I could not be his girlfriend because I was in a serious relationship and my boyfriend was amazing. This obviously got him pained but there was nothing he could do so he told me he wished me the best in my relationship and that he wasn’t one to come in between lovers. We then said we’d keep in touch and stay friends with no strings attached. This was in January 2014.
He would call, tell me he was reluctant to call because he ddn’t want to come off as being a pest or anything but he really just wanted to hear from me. I would tell him it was fine, that at least we were friends and it was normal for friends to check up on each other. That went on for weeks and we used to exchange calls infrequently, like once in two weeks. I was running my masters’ program at the University of Ibadan so it wasn’t like we both had any time anyways.
In March 2014, my beloved and supposedly amazing relationship crashed.
Today, we will be sending lovely messages to our parents, either biological or adopted. Anyone who has been there for you as a parent is worth being appreciated. We did this last year and we know how awesome it went. We will be doing it again this year and giving feedback. Call or text your mum and dad, tell them you are grateful for everything they keep doing for you. Let them know you appreciate their strife and that they are the best people. Say a word of prayer for them and send lots of love their way. Please remember to tell them you love them and you hope to make them proud.
I’ll be back. BOS
